Heralding ‘Fit India Movement’

Goenkan traditions run very deep in establishing firm foundations for a healthy and strong nation. We deem it to be our moral onus to ensure and facilitate making of stronger, fitter and healthier citizens of tomorrow.

A sports week spanning from 4th – 9th November, 2019 bears a testimony to our proactive efforts in being the harbingers of ‘Fit India Movement’. The event culminated on 9th November, 2019 and Sh. Kiren Rijiju ,Hon’ble Minister of State for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Ministry of Minority Affairs of India graced the mega event ‘Goenkan Sparta’ with his benign presence.

In an epiphanic moment, Sh. Rijiju not only applauded the efforts of school in encouraging young denizens to adopt and adapt a rigorous fitness regime, he also commended the hard work put in by children in their strive to build a healthier nation. He further said that he was deeply overwhelmed with the spirited show put up the students and conveyed that the school was already ahead of its times in following the norms which the Prime minister wishes to lay out for other institutions to follow.

It indeed was a proud moment for all stake holders when he lauded the school for producing champion sports persons, who not only brought laurels to the school but also made the nation proud. Keeping in sync with ‘Fit India movement’ and the need for all round development of children, the school has invested heavily in creating a world -class sports infrastructure.

A specifically designed sports curriculum for all sports that aims at training students in a step wise manner from the very basic to pro level.

'Second Position' at 'FIRST LEGO League'

Anushca Nagia class VII -A, has won 'best project research' award and secured 'second position' at 'FIRST LEGO League’ - north India robotics championship -National level Event held on 19-20 Jan,2019 at Manav Rachna International School- Faridabad.

Anushca Nagia along with her team members of 'Rock-iT’ will progress to represent India at upcoming FIRST LEGO League - American international robotics championship @ LEGOLAND, California.

Team Rock-iT successfully cleared all four stages of the competition: Project Presentation, Robot Design, Core Values and Robot Game.

'National Yog Sports Championship'

Vrinda Chopra of Class VI. Won Gold medal in 3rd National Yog Sports Championship organized by Yog Sports Association,India.

It was held in Haridwar on December 07th to 09th,2018.

'MAN OF THE MATCH in Gargi College '

Daksha Bhutani of class VII-A and Agastya Pandey of class VI D won ‘MAN OF THE MATCH’ Trophy in the Cricket Tournament played in Gargi College in the month of January 2019.

Bhavik Singh of class VI B was declared as a Best Player of the Tournament.

'National Level Essay Competition'

G. D. Goenka Public School, Dwarka bags I and II prize in Oil’s National Level Essay Competition,2018

Anannaya Dobriyal of class X A secured the Second Prize and an honorarium cash prize of Rs 15,000/- in Oil’s National Level Essay Competition, 2018.

Prathmesh Narayan Gupta of Class X A secured the First prize and an honorarium cash prize of Rs 20,000/- in Oil’s National Level Essay Competition, 2018

To my lovely students, I would like to say that always believe in your innate spark and know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle that comes your way. Hardships sharpen your abilities to be persistent, dedicated, and positive. Just like you can’t build a strong body without exercise, you can’t build a strong character without managing difficulties. In our late president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s words, “Don’t fear failing in the first attempt because even successful maths starts with zero only” and to add to it, I will further say that never be afraid of dreaming big, dreams will fuel your surge to the infinite skies.

I also acknowledge the ardent involvement of community and parents to collectively encourage students' learning, to augment student outcomes and equip them with the proficiencies to surpass in a rapidly changing global landscape.

To conclude, I will summarise in the words of Gwendolyn Brooks “We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond”. So, let us come together and strive to create a better world. Each individual spark when brought together can light up the darkest hour. Be that spark and let there be light!
