Economics Workshop

At GD Goenka Public School, Dwarka, we consistently feature Capsule Classes or Subject Enrichment Sessions as part of our academic programme.These sessions are meticulously designed to offer students a comprehensive understanding or an in-depth analysis of their subjects, particularly in anticipation of board examinations. We engage preeminent industry experts from various disciplines to lead these classes. These distinguished professionals impart their expertise, share strategies for excelling in exams, provide guidance on effective paper presentation, and offer expansive insights into the subjects.
This week, we are privileged to host Capsule Classes for Economics and Accountancy.

Session on “Career Awareness”

A session on “Career Awareness” was held in the school premises on 20th of Oct.2019, by eminent resource person Mr. Anubhav Rakheja from Career Launcher. The session was attended by students of classes 9th and 11th. The session covered aspects such as various available career options in different streams, how to make a suitable career choice, and how to decide on the best suited courses and colleges.

Workshop on POCSO

In a bid to create awareness and to sensitize children, a workshop on POCSO (protection of children from sexual offences) amendment,2019 was conducted by Ms. Sapna Bhalla for students of grades IX-XII on 24th and 25th August 2019.

A Motivational Workshop by Officers of Indian Navy

A motivational team led by Commander Sachin Gade and comprising of Lt. Com. Archana Maurya, Lt. Shivansh and Sailor Vikas gave the students of G. D. Goenka Public School, Dwarka a glimpse of life in the navy.

CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Food, Nutrition & Dietetics’

G.D.Goenka Public School, Dwarka organized a two-day ‘Capacity Building’ workshop on ‘Food, Nutrition & Dietetics’ on 19th & 20th August’19. The workshop was conducted by the Principal and resource persons, Ms. Anita Khosla and Ms. Deepti Sharma (PGT Biology), based on the study material, question paper, marking scheme and blue- print prepared by them. The same has been accepted by and uploaded on the CBSE website.

Avishkaar Learning Program

AVISHKAAR robotics training program is being conducted in the school for classes IV to XII. Students are being introduced to various electronic components and devices that are fundamental to the execution of the Artificial Intelligence module and the making of a robot and its programming.

Scouts

Our school has started with Scouting and Guiding programme to train and aid the students to develop leadership quality and healthy physical and mental aspects. This activity will also focus on instilling discipline and personality development so that they may contribute in nation building positively. Scouting helps Scouts learn how to carry out their commitment in everyday life. This approach to life has three dimensions:
• A Spiritual Dimension — A commitment to seek the spiritual value of life beyond the material world.
• A Social Dimension — Participating in the development of society, and respecting the dignity of others and the integrity of the natural world. Promoting local, national, and international peace, understanding, and cooperation.
• A Personal Dimension — Developing a sense of personal responsibility and stimulating the desire for responsible self-expression.

Workshop on “Study Options in UK Universities”

A workshop was conducted on 26th of July, in the school on “Study options in UK universities” in association with SI-UK which is a British owned company. The workshop was attended by students of class 12 and covered information on duration and requirements of various courses in UK universities.

A Visit to Pusa Institute

With a vision to update our students of class XI & XII (medical stream), with the ongoing research in the field of Genetics, a visit to PUSA Institute was organized on 11th July,2019. The famed institute is spread over 500 hectares and is credited with many researches and genetically modified plant varieties. Dr.Bhatt, commenced the session with an inspirational speech and touched upon various approaches in the field of biology.

Workshop for Teachers

Workshop was conducted on “Behavioural Basics and Challenges” by Dr. Richa Tyagi (School Counsellor) and Ms. Sonal Singh (Special Educator), for teachers of pre-primary, primary and middle school. The session was interactive, activity oriented and it provided information on identification of children with ADHD, ADD, LD, Autism and gave inputs on dealing with behavioural challenges in a classroom setting.

Students Session on “Mental Health Awarwness”

Sessions were organized on “Mental Health Awareness” by Enrich organization in association with “Live Love Laugh foundation”, for classes 9th to 12th. Trainers were Ms. Jaspreet Kaur and Ms. Priya from Enrich life organization. The session covered issues of stress, Anxiety, Depression in context of Adolescence and growing up and students were made aware of how to identify and seek help.

A Session on Self-defense for Women

Women self-defense Technique workshop was conducted by Constable Rekha (Delhi Police) in our School Premises for the girl students to focus on the safety and protection of women.

'Second Position' at 'FIRST LEGO League'

Anushca Nagia class VII -A, has won 'best project research' award and secured 'second position' at 'FIRST LEGO League’ - north India robotics championship -National level Event held on 19-20 Jan,2019 at Manav Rachna International School- Faridabad.

Anushca Nagia along with her team members of 'Rock-iT’ will progress to represent India at upcoming FIRST LEGO League - American international robotics championship @ LEGOLAND, California.

Team Rock-iT successfully cleared all four stages of the competition: Project Presentation, Robot Design, Core Values and Robot Game.

'National Yog Sports Championship'

Vrinda Chopra of Class VI. Won Gold medal in 3rd National Yog Sports Championship organized by Yog Sports Association,India.

It was held in Haridwar on December 07th to 09th,2018.

'MAN OF THE MATCH in Gargi College '

Daksha Bhutani of class VII-A and Agastya Pandey of class VI D won ‘MAN OF THE MATCH’ Trophy in the Cricket Tournament played in Gargi College in the month of January 2019.

Bhavik Singh of class VI B was declared as a Best Player of the Tournament.

'National Level Essay Competition'

G. D. Goenka Public School, Dwarka bags I and II prize in Oil’s National Level Essay Competition,2018

Anannaya Dobriyal of class X A secured the Second Prize and an honorarium cash prize of Rs 15,000/- in Oil’s National Level Essay Competition, 2018.

Prathmesh Narayan Gupta of Class X A secured the First prize and an honorarium cash prize of Rs 20,000/- in Oil’s National Level Essay Competition, 2018

To my lovely students, I would like to say that always believe in your innate spark and know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle that comes your way. Hardships sharpen your abilities to be persistent, dedicated, and positive. Just like you can’t build a strong body without exercise, you can’t build a strong character without managing difficulties. In our late president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s words, “Don’t fear failing in the first attempt because even successful maths starts with zero only” and to add to it, I will further say that never be afraid of dreaming big, dreams will fuel your surge to the infinite skies.

I also acknowledge the ardent involvement of community and parents to collectively encourage students' learning, to augment student outcomes and equip them with the proficiencies to surpass in a rapidly changing global landscape.

To conclude, I will summarise in the words of Gwendolyn Brooks “We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond”. So, let us come together and strive to create a better world. Each individual spark when brought together can light up the darkest hour. Be that spark and let there be light!
